Family Guardian Insurance Company incorporated December 1, 1964.

1965
Family Guardian established in 1965 by Roscow N Pyfrom, A R Jack Knowles and Norbert F Boissiere whose vision was to establish a unique Bahamian insurance company to serve the growing population of The Bahamas.

1975
By its 10th anniversary in 1975, Family Guardian had expanded in The Bahamas and the Caribbean with a total of 13 sales offices.

1979
Family Guardian acquired the portfolio of Community Industrial Life Insurance Company.

1981
Family Guardian broadened its product line by establishing the Financial Services Division to sell Ordinary Life insurance and annuities.

1983
FamGuard Corporation Ltd established as the holding company for Family Guardian.

1993
New Family Guardian Corporate Centre on East Bay Street completed.

1997
Family Guardian acquired Guardian Life of the Caribbean’s Bahamas portfolio.

1998
FamGuard Corporation made an initial public offering increasing its number of shareholders by one thousand.

2000
FamGuard expanded further by establishing a new subsidiary and comprehensive major medical plan, BahamaHealth.

2001
FamGuard formed a third subsidiary, FG General Insurance Agency Ltd.

2001
Family Guardian and Star Insurance merged their operations becoming one of the largest life and health insurers in The Bahamas.

2005
Strategic alliance with Sagicor Financial Corporation.

2007
Family Guardian Financial Centre opened at Church & East Bay Streets.

2008
FG Capital Markets and FG Financial launched to provide brokerage & advisory services and pension and investment management.

FamGuard Corporation was incorporated on December 6, 1983 under the laws of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to serve as an investment holding company. The Corporation’s five subsidiary companies, Family Guardian Insurance Company, FG Capital Markets, FG Financial, FG General Insurance Agency and BahamaHealth Insurance Brokers and Benefit Consultants, currently employ 380 sales and administrative personnel.

FamGuard is a publicly traded company listed with the Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX).
